Transcendence

Transcendence centers on the head as a vessel of metamorphosis. Chrysalis forms, a ceramic head sprouting insects and mushrooms, and collages intertwining anatomical diagrams with botanical elements all speak to the resilience found in stillness and rest. In moments of crisis, the body, like the caterpillar in its cocoon, digests itself only to emerge transformed. These works meditate on decomposition and regeneration—what grows from death, what beauty and hope arise from endings.
