Fernanda Uribe -Horta
Fernanda Uribe-Horta is a Mexican-Cuban visual artist and sculptor based in Brooklyn, New York. Working across sculpture, painting, installation, and mixed media, her practice explores the relationship between the body, material, memory, and transformation.
Drawing from ancient artifacts, vernacular objects, mythology, and the natural world, Uribe-Horta approaches materials as carriers of memory and evidence of change. Clay, marble, pigments, and organic forms become sites of accumulation, erosion, fragmentation, and renewal. Her process is deliberately slow and tactile, informed by her background in dance and yoga and by an interest in the physical and psychological states that emerge through repetition, touch, and movement.
Her work considers death not as an endpoint but as part of a continuous cycle of decomposition, regeneration, and becoming. Across her sculptures and installations, traces of the archaeological, biological, and human coexist, creating objects that appear at once ancient and newly formed.
Uribe-Horta holds an MFA in Visual Arts & Curatorial Studies from Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) in Milan, Italy. Her work has been exhibited internationally at the Mexican Consulate in New York, Future Perfect Gallery, Superhouse Gallery, Luisa Via Roma, Scope Art Miami, The Others Art Fair in Turin, and Future Fair in New York. Her residencies include Spinola Banna per l'Arte in Turin, RICE–Raghurajpur in Puri, India, and with Jacobo and María Ángeles in Oaxaca, Mexico.
Her work has been featured during Design Weeks in Mexico City, Los Angeles, New York, and Milan, and in publications including Architectural Digest, British Vogue, Condé Nast Traveler, Design Milk, Dwell, Cosmopolitan Germany, and Designhunter MX. She is a member of the International Female Design Council and has maintained a studio practice in Brooklyn since 2021.
